Vietnamese NA Chairman meets Thai Senate President to promote ties

HANOI, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung held talks here on Friday with the President of the Thailand Senate Teeradej Meepien during the latter's visit to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese top legislator welcomed the visit by the Thai Senate President, saying it is a vivid manifestation of the fine friendly relationship and cooperation between the two countries, and that it would contribute significantly to promoting the bilateral ties between the two countries' peoples and parliaments.
Hung said the two sides should enhance exchange of experience in various fields, including economy, trade, investment, culture and parliamentary activities. Cooperation should be promoted in regional and international forums, including the United Nations, the Non-Align Movement, ASEAN, ASEM, APEC, the East Asia Summit, the Greater Mekong Subregion, among others.
Both parliaments should closely coordinate in supervisory work and promotion of cooperative programs and projects between the two governments and peoples with more efficiency. Exchange of visits by both sides' parliament members should be expanded, contributing to developing the friendly relations between the two legislative bodies and the two peoples, Hung stressed.
The Thai Senate President affirmed his visit is aimed at further cementing ties between the Thai Senate and Vietnamese National Assembly, and contributing to the development of the two countries' relations.
He also agreed with the host in promoting all-sided cooperation between the two countries, including those between the Thai Senate and Vietnamese NA.
Close cooperation in foreign affairs, including exchange of visits between the friendship parliament groups should be further expanded, he added.
On the occasion, the Thai Senate President invited Vietnamese NA chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung to visit Thailand, and the invitation was accepted.
